Care and support outside the home
Diamond Home Care Services can also assist you in your activities outside the home. From transport to companionship and chaperone services, we are here for you when you’re out and about.
CARER RELIEF/SITTING SERVICE
Carer relief means taking a break from caring, while the person you care for is looked after by someone else. It lets you take time out to look after yourself and helps stop you becoming exhausted and run down. It is perfect for anyone who is a primary carer and would like to take break from their daily routine.
No matter what your caring duties are, you need a break to see to your own business and enjoy your own hobbies, leisure and social activities. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for your loved one to have some different company and to interact with different people. Diamond Home Care Services carers can provide you with some well-earned ‘you’ time while you can rest in the knowledge that your loved one is safe and well while you aren’t there.
companionship
Similar to Carer Relief/Sitting Service, and Community Activities, companionship supports the social and emotional well-being for people who are feeling isolated or lonely, as well as alleviating some of the pressure from family members. Loneliness affects a large number of people in the UK and is particularly prevalent among the over 65’s.
Social isolation and feelings of loneliness is detrimental to our mental health and in turn affecting our physical health too. Mental wellbeing is linked to our physical health; when we are feeling happy and positive, we tend to get well faster, and our body functions better. When we link this to being older, perhaps with less mobility, and not seeing people as much as we used to, feelings of loneliness can creep in. Some people may not see many people face to face during a week and over time this can become a danger to mental health as loneliness and isolation takes effect.
Diamond Home Care Services carers can offer opportunities for social engagement, whether it just be conversation, someone to listen to your stories, ask you about your day, and share experiences with you: watching your favourite television shows together; going for a walk, getting out to social events, the theatre, or cinema; going shopping or ‘setting the world to rights’ over a cup of tea – all of the little things that make life a little brighter with a friendly face.
Crisis Situations
Many people will need some type of immediate support at times in their lives and this can involve care at home. Events can happen so fast that you as an individual or your families are left wondering how you or they will cope.
Whether there’s been an accident, a sudden illness or you’ve been let down by your current carer, Diamond Home Care Services are here to help at the last minute – even if you have complex needs.
We can often offer immediate support with:
- You or your loved one coming home from hospital after a serious illness or injury, for example; following a stroke or a fall.
- When you or your loved one’s condition is deteriorating and you/they don't want to go to hospital, but want to stay at home.
- When you or your loved one is deteriorating and either you or they are frightened to be alone.
- When the care and management of someone's needs becomes too much for the family support network.
- When the person or services that currently support you or your loved one no longer can.
the final journey
Caring for someone at the end of their life can be rewarding but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding.
Diamond Home Care Services carers can support you in helping you and your loved one to spend the time they have left in comfort and dignity; allowing them to ‘say their last goodbye‘ in the most peaceful way possible.
