Care and support outside the home

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

Community activities provide people with company, friendship and some much-needed social support. For some people, it can be difficult to meet up regularly with friends or family, which is why social opportunities are essential for mental health and wellbeing.

We can all struggle mentally, and potentially physically, when we do not have social contact with others, especially if living alone.  Keeping active and enjoying hobbies is a vital part of life and to stay involved in community life and continue to socialise is important.  Whatever the interest may be, still having the choice to continue doing them can bring extra joy to life.

Diamond Care and Support carers can support with many hobbies and social activities; such as going to the hairdresser, attending a celebration,  going to watch a football match, ‘keep fit’ classes, art and craft classes, meeting a friend ‘down the pub’, shopping, going to the cinema, going to a concert etc.

chaperone service

There are many reasons why someone may feel the benefit of having a ‘chaperone’. Diamond Care and Support carers can ensure you get to your appointment safely, they can provide physical assistance getting there and back for people with limited mobility and they can offer reassurance and support in potentially stressful situations.

Should you or your loved one have a memory-affecting condition, your ‘chaperone’ can also take notes for future recollection of the advice given by the medical professional.
