Personal care/hygeine and continence care
Personal care is a very intimate, private and individual interaction between a person and their carer(s). At Diamond Care and Support, we recognise this, and all personal care will be agreed with you, according to your needs and wishes, and where possible, you will always be in control of how you would like this care to be provided.
Working with you and to your guidance, we will develop a bespoke care plan for you which takes into account your privacy, dignity, self-esteem and independent abilities. Personal care can include showering, bathing, dressing/undressing, oral care, skin integrity, shaving, toileting/continence care, etc.
Diamond Care and Support recognise that continuity plays a large part in building up trust with individuals, especially when supporting with personal care. Therefore, wherever possible, we will ensure that you are supported by the same small team of carers at each call.
FOOD & FLUID PREPARATION AND SUPPORT WITH EATING AND DRINKING
Diamond Care and Support recognise the importance of a good, balanced and nutritious eating and drinking regime. As we age, appetites often diminish and poor diet and hydration affects many of our other bodily functions and can result in things like poor skin integrity (pressure sores), urinary tract infections, constipation etc.
Diamond Care and Support carers can provide support calls to facilitate maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet – whether that be preparation of food and fluid, support with eating and drinking or just encouragement and/or support in preparing your own food and fluid with supervision. Your preferences will always be acknowledged and you will always be in control of what you eat and/or drink and if you fancy a ‘Cheeky Takeaway’, we can support with that too!
Light household duties
Although Diamond Care and Support are not a dedicated ‘domestic’ service, if time permits, our carers’ are able to provide support with light household duties during your support call e.g. tidying up after care delivery, changing bed linen, putting washing in, running the hoover round, keeping the kitchen clean and tidy after preparing food etc. and generally ensuring that your environment is left free from hazards prior to leaving.
SUPPORT WITH MEDICATIONS AND TOPICAL APPLICATION OF CREAMS/LOTIONS
If you are prescribed medication, it is important that your prescription is followed accurately. Diamond Care and Support carers can assist you in doing this. It may be just to help with opening packets, bottles etc. or it may be with ensuring you take your prescribed medication at the correct times.
It could be that you just need some assistance with applying cream to areas of your body you find difficult to reach. Whatever your medication support needs are Diamond Care and Support carers are here to support you in managing your medication as effectively and as timely as possible.
welfare checks
It can be quite daunting when you live on your own and you either don’t have family members to ‘drop in’ on you, or you have family members but they don’t live locally.
Diamond Care and Support carers are able to provide someone to call on you to ensure you are safe, keeping well and have everything you need to keep you comfortable in your home.
